Pakistan reopens airspace to civil aviation

Pakistan has reopened its airspace to international civil aviation following restrictions imposed because of clashes with India. The imposed restrictions, which came into force in February, forced long detours that cost airlines millions of dollars. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was published on the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority’s website, it said: “Pakistan airspace is open for all types of civil traffic on published ATS (Air Traffic Service) routes.” Airlines operating flights between Asia and Europe were largely affected having to operate longer routes to avoid the area.
