ICAO to work with IATA to increase black box life
The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have resolved to work together to find a way to increase the technical life span of the black box from 30 days to 90.
ICAO Secretary General Raymond Benjamin said: “Apart from increasing the life span of the black box from 30 days to 90. We also intend to increase the flight recording capacity from 2 hours to fifteen hours. The issue here is to see that incidents of the kind of Malaysia Airlines do not happen again in the future.”
He added: “The International Aviation Organisation is sad with the event of the loss of Malaysian Airline, and I am taking this opportunity to convey condolences to the families of the victims. We want to assure them that such an event will not happen again in the future.”
