Lufthansa Technik has signed an agreement with Smartwings to support the Czech airline with a comprehensive engine management service for the carrier’s 737NG and MAX aircraft. The first induction of LEAP-1B engines for its 737 MAX fleet is scheduled for the beginning of 2025, with an existing contract for the CFM56-7B engines (powering 30 of Smartwings’ 737NG aircraft) extended until 2030. “With our capacity growth supporting the LEAP-1B engine, our customers can significantly benefit from our commitment to deliver world-class engine MRO services,” commented Harald Gloy, chief operations and HR officer of Lufthansa Technik.
