China Southern has agreed to purchase six Airbus A330 aircraft for $1.205 billion at list price and 30 Airbus A320 series aircraft worth $2.575 billion. The planes will be finance partly through cash and partly by financing arrangements with banking institutions. The six A330 will be delivered between 2013 and 2014, with the 30 Airbus A320 series aircraft to be delivered in stages from 2012 to 2015. The order will help the airline optimise its aircraft fleet and traffic capacity, thus enhancing China Southern’s competitiveness and core competence, it said in a stock exchange filing.
