Travellers between Colombia and the Dominican Republic are to have more options, it was announced on December 8, with the news that new low-cost airline Arajet has launched flights connecting Santo Domingo with Medellín and Bogotá, Arajet launched in September 2022 and flies to 18 destinations in 11 countries in the Americas, including Cancun, Lima, Mexico City and Quito. To Víctor Pacheco, chief executive and founder of Arajet, the addition of the Colombia flights is to help “democratise the skies of the region.”
