Boeing has installed a 787 flight simulators at London Gatwick Airport in anticipation of the new aircraft being delivered to UK airlines, Monarch and Thomson from 2012. Other simulators have been delivered to sites in Asia ahead of the Dreamliner’s launch next year. A 787 training programme that accompanies the simulator has been completed by 100 technicians and pilots. Flying the 787 is similar to the 777 which is why pilots with experience flying those aircraft will need less training – one week – than those without, which could take up to 24 days.
