Joby and GKN agree supply of thermoplastic control surfaces

Joby Aviation (Joby) has agreed to a multi-year agreement with GKN Aerospace, which will supply thermoplastic flight control surfaces for Joby aircraft. This collaboration was signed at the Paris Air Show and was described as a “big step” towards Joby’s goal of using its aircraft for air taxi service.  Joby’s flight control surfaces will be made of lightweight thermoplastic structures, manufactured using advanced out-of-autoclave production methods, which will speed up the production process.  GKN will undertake the design of the surfaces, using Joby’s design input.
