The Argentine government is applying a new 35% tax on all international airline tickets, effective immediately. Flights are still grounded in the country due to COVID-19 restrictions but the ban is expected to ease from October. The new tax will not be welcomed by passengers or airlines as the country already heavily taxes international airline tickets, with a  37% in airfare and departure tax, as well as $69 in fees for international departures. The new 35% tax will undoubtedly slow recovery in the airline sector.
