Northern UK airport workers and Scottish authorities end wages stand-off

Flight disruptions at 11 northern UK airports should be a thing of the past after striking workers voted to accept wage increases of up to 7%. A “long-running pay dispute involving 120 Unite members across the Highlands and Islands Airport Limited (HIAL) Group” ended on March 21, the Unite trade union said. The dispute saw several days’ of airport closures  across the HIAL network during March. “Unite’s members are to be congratulated for leading the fight to secure better jobs, pay and conditions across the Highlands and Islands,” aid Sharon Graham, Unite’s secretary general.
