Etihad Airways Engineering is planning to expand its Abu Dhabi facility by 50,000 square meters in collaboration with Aircraft Support Industries (ASI). The decision to expand the facility comes in the wake of growing aircraft fleet across the globe and to meet the demand of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service. As part of the facility expansion, Etihad Airways Engineering is also building two new widebody hangars onsite to serve more customer aircraft. The MRO plans to add a new widebody bay, large enough to accommodate a superjumbo A380 to Hangar 6, which can induct three A380s simultaneously at present.
