An AirAsia X A330 aircraft bound for Malaysia was forced to return to Perth due to an engine failure on June 26. Passengers on the Sunday flight reported hearing a loud explosion before the Airbus A330 began to shudder. The aircraft landed safely and passengers were transferred onto a replacement plane. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating “an engine malfunction” which caused “moderate airframe vibration”.
