Budget carrier Volaris said it carried almost three million passengers in December, an increase of 13.9% year-on-year. The Mexico-based airline said it operated at a load factor of almost 85%, after it increased capacity by 18.5% since the same month in 2021. “Demand in the domestic Mexican and international markets increased by 13.3% and 26.1%, respectively”, the carrier said in a January 5 statement. President and chief executive Enrique Beltranena said the December numbers were “solid” and came despite harsh winter weather causing a three-day stoppage to its US operations.
