Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is planning to set up its first regional hub in Turkey in order present an expanded global network to better compete with Gulf-based carriers. To this end, PIA has signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkish Airlines to expand its network to more than 130 destinations. Gulf-based carriers were also interested in a similar deal with PIA, said Capt Haroon, PIA managing director in May 2008.
