Iceland’s PLAY carried 63,949 passengers in February 2023, with a load factor of 76.9% and revenue up 26% for a record sales month. Around a third of its passengers were connecting elsewhere via Iceland, the carrier said, with to and from Paris and London recording “an impressive load factor of over 90%” while routes to and from mainland Spain and the Canary Islands continued to be busy, as they were in January. The carrier said unit revenue has kept increasing despite capacity also going up. Average airfares are 19% more expensive than in 2022, it added.
