Barcelona-based airline Vueling has announced it will open a permanent base at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport in late April. An A320 will be based at Schiphol to service new destinations in Spain, including Alicante and Palma de Majorca, as well as Zurich. Vueling will become the first foreign airline based at Schiphol. Alex Cruz, chief executive of Vueling, said the new base will enable the airline to increase its capacity in the Dutch capital by 50% during next year’s summer season compared to the same period of 2010. The new Amsterdam base is the airline’s ninth and the second international one
