Allegiant Travel Co., parent of Allegiant Air, has doubled its net income to $25.2 million during the second quarter. Revenue rose by 15.3% to $231.2 million. Expenses were up by 5.3% to $189.3 million. Operating profit was $41.9 million – again more than doubled the $20.7 million operating profit posted during the same period last year. The airline saved costs on its maintenance requirements, which were driven by a decline in engine overhaul expenses. The company’s ancillary revenues per passenger were $39.67 in the second quarter, the highest in the company’s history.
