An Alaska Airlines 737 aircraft’s windshield cracked during its descent on the night of March 17, 2024. Flight 9 was flying from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Virginia to Portland International Airport (PDX) in Portland, Oregon. A spokesperson for the airline said the crack was in its inner windshield and was “minor”, adding that the 737 fleet is outfitted with five-layer windscreens so that if an inner pane cracks, cabin pressure can be maintained.
