Airlines call on Brussels to ease disruptions caused by strikes

European carriers have called on the European Commission to do more to “stop escalating industrial action from derailing summer travel for millions of passengers”. A statement by industry body Airlines For Europe (A4E) said strikes in 2023, including those by French air traffic controllers (ATCs) had already caused 3,000 flights to be cancelled and 23,000 to be delayed, affecting around 10 million passengers.
