Mexican regulatory authorities have given their approval for Delta Air Lines to conduct business with Aeromexico on the proviso that they relinquish some of their slots at the Mexico City international airport, which duplicate flights that both airlines operate to similar destinations. Delta and Aeromexico will now be able to launch code share flights to and from the US, and Mexico. The move is part of Delta’s plan to increase its stake in Aeromexico, from the 17% to 49%. The joint venture still needs to be approved by the US regulatory authorities.
