RRPF completes sale and lease-back transaction with Malaysia Airlines for A380 spare engines

Malaysia Airlines and Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance (RRPF) have completed a sale and lease-back transaction to finance four Trent 900 spare engines with a value of US$ 90 million, at 2013 list prices. The Trent 900 spare engines support Malaysia Airlines fleet of A380 aircraft. Aminuddin Zakaria, Malaysia Airlines, Senior Vice President Airline Engineering Group, said “Malaysia Airlines have a long history of working with RRPF and we look forward to extending this with the Trent 900 spare engines.”

Bobby Janagan, Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance, General Manager, said: “We value long term relationships with our customers and we are pleased to have been working closely with Malaysia Airlines for the last 15 years. This transaction for Trent 900 spare engines confirms the continued strong co-operation between RRPF and Malaysia Airlines.”

The relationship between Malaysia Airlines and Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance stretches back to 1998, with a spare engine sale and lease-back transaction for the airline’s Trent 800 and RB211-524D4 spare engines, supporting the 777 and 747 aircraft.
