United Airlines flight diverts after passengers smell burning

A United Airlines flight from London Heathrow enroute to San Francisco diverted to land at Keflavik in Iceland after passengers reported a burning smell. As a precaution the captain landed in Iceland where a full inspection of the 777-200 aircraft was carried out. However no traces of any fireworks or similar were found. The passengers were transferred to a hotel for the night and the aircraft reached San Francisco some 24 hours late.
