SAS sells final MD80 aircraft

Scandinavian Airlines System, (SAS) has agreed to sell four of its MD82/87 aircraft to an undisclosed operator. The buyer has also secured options to acquire an additional 19 MD82s and 10 spare JT8D-217C/219 spare engines from SAS.

Assuming the options are exercised, this transaction would complete the phase-out of SAS’ remaining MD80 fleet. The first aircraft was delivered to on September 11, 2012 and the next three firm aircraft will be delivered in Q4 2012. The option aircraft and spare engines, if exercised, will be delivered to the buyer in a phased schedule starting Q1-2013 and ending Q1-2015. The transaction was arranged by SkyWorks Leasing.
