From March low-cost carrier Mango will start weekly flights between Johannesburg and Zanzibar to plug the gap left by 1Time when it stopped flying in December. Although this is Mango’s first route outside South Africa, the flights are part of a charter operation for tour operator StayAfrica and are not yet part of Mango’s own route network. Once this year-long charter contract ends, Mango intends to fly the route on its own behalf.
