First half yearly profit for THY

Turkish Airlines (THY) has reversed last year’s loss of TRY544 million into a net profit of TRY164 million ($90 million) during the first half of this year. The airline had posted a loss during the first quarter but a significantly stronger than expected second quarter resulted in a first-half TRY52 million net operating profit.
Revenue from ticket sales rose by 36% to TRY6.7 billion, with passenger numbers rising by 20% to 18 million during the half year period.
ASKs were up 19% and RPKs rose by 24%. The airline’s load factor rose by 5.7 points during the six month period to 75.2%.
THY added eight international destinations and now flies 157 routes in total.
