Turkish Airlines (THY) has reversed last year’s loss of TRY544 million into a net profit of TRY164 million ($90 million) during the first half of this year. The airline had posted a loss during the first quarter but a significantly stronger than expected second quarter resulted in a first-half TRY52 million net operating profit. Revenue from ticket sales rose by 36% to TRY6.7 billion, with passenger numbers rising by 20% to 18 million during the half year period. ASKs were up 19% and RPKs rose by 24%.
