Croatia Airlines sell-off stalls

The Croatian government’s plans to privatize the state-owned Croatia Airlines have been postponed after the government expressed reservations about selling the airline amid current industry conditions.

Croatian Minister for Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Siniša Hajdaš Dončić, said: “We cannot allow for Croatia Airlines to be purchased by a predator, which would in turn destroy the company. Croatia Airlines needs a strategic partner and not a predator. Croatia Airlines needs to consolidate its operations and expand throughout region.”

The airline recently saw a return to profit for the first time in a decade. The government also stated it expects to resume the privatization process later in 2014.
