The Midfield Terminal at Abu Dhabi International Terminal is expected to open for commercial operations towards the end of 2023, as per the information by Momberger Airport. The construction work of the airport started in 2012 and was supposed to be completed in 5 years, but it was delayed due to certain challenges. The completed terminal building will have the capacity to accommodate up to 11,000 passengers per hour and 45 million passengers annually. The terminal is valued at $2.94 billion covering an area of 700,000 square meters. The terminal was initially planned to support the growth of Etihad Airways.
