Ireland’s Shannon Airport prepares for busiest Christmas period in fourteen years

Shannon Airport is preparing for what it describes as ‘soaring Christmas passenger numbers’, with over 121,000 people (an 18% rise from last year) expected to travel through the airport during the holiday season. With passenger volumes their highest since 2009, this will mark the airport’s business Christmas period in 14 years. “Ensuring a seamless and enjoyable journey for everyone during this festive season remains one of our top priorities,” highlighted CEO of the Shannon Airport Group, Mary Considine. 35 routes will operate from Shannon Airport in 2024, among them Delta Air Lines’ new daily seasonal service to New York JFK
