Traffic through Cork Airport surged by more than 700% year-on-year in 2022, with the 2.24 million passengers recorded meaning the airport had recovered to 86% of 2019 levels. Part of the recovery came on the back of a 2021 runway refurbishment, work carried out when travel numbers were low due to pandemic-related curbs in Ireland and internationally. Located in Ireland’s south-west, Cork is the islands third-biggest city after Dublin and after Belfast. Cork’s annual passenger numbers amounted to about 10% of those passing through Dublin Airport.
