Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, or ASUR, which operates airports in Colombia, Mexico and the US, reported passenger traffic for January 2023 of 6.3 million, 29.8% above January 2022. Traffic increased by 37.8% in Puerto Rico, 33.6% in Mexico and 16.6% in Colombia, ASUR said, with the rises driven by domestic and international traffic. In Puerto Rico, Mexico and Colombia, domestic traffic increased 36.8%, 35% and 10.5%, respectively, while international traffic increased 49.6%, 32.4% and 50.8%, ASUR said. Mexico-based ASUR runs 16 airports, including in the tourism haven Cancun, and the airport at Medellin, Colombia’s second-busiest.
