Airbus has confirmed that it is conducting a project study for a higher take-off weight capability and longer range A321neo, which the airframe manufacturer is marketing/proposing to customers. A spokesperson for Airbus confirmed that the new longer range model would have true transatlantic range (100nm more range than 757-200w); a similar seat count to the 757 but with true long range comfort including lie flat business class beds and 18″ wide economy comfort. The aircraft would have 25% lower cost per seat compared to the 757, says Airbus, with entry into service around 2019.
