Air India has signed a $50 million seven-year information technology (IT) deal with International Business Machines (IBM). IBM will implement the enterprise software SAP to automate various processes at Air India and will also help the carrier with its IT infrastructure and application support services. Cash-strapped Air India hopes the deal will help improve its operating efficiency, complement its expected entry into Star Alliance and help fast track the merger of Indian Airlines and Air India.
