Netherlands increases airline ticket tax

The Dutch Cabinet has announced plans to triple the tax on airline tickets from €8 euros to €24 from next year, in an apparent bid to make flying “relatively less attractive” than more sustainable options like traveling by train, according to Finance Minister Sigrid Kaag, RTL Nieuws reports. The tax only applies to departing passengers with exemptions for passengers connecting through Dutch airports and children under the age of two. The increased flight tax will make flying from Dutch airports more expensive.
