On April 16, the European parliament voted to approve the ‘stop the clock’ proposal for aviation that would effectively halt compliance for non-EU airlines with the Emissions Trading Scheme but only for non intra-EU flights. The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) and the International Air Carrier’s Association (IACA) are campaigning for the moratorium to be extended to all flights departing and arriving at an EU airport to prevent discrimination against European carriers operating intra-EU flights.
