Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has announced that its managing director, Karen Smart, has resigned after eight years at the company. The news follows public criticism of long security queues at the airport this week that have led to passengers missing flights. MAG had apologised for the delays, noting that the industry was “facing staff shortages and recruitment challenges at present, after the most damaging two years in its history”.
