The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has “found multiple instances” where both Boeing and Spirit Aerosystems have allegedly failed to comply with quality control requirements for its manufacturing processes, the federal agency said in a recent update. It is part of its ongoing investigation following the blowout of a door plug during an Alaska Airlines flight on January 5, 2024. The FAA also identified non-compliance issues in Boeing’s manufacturing process control, parts handling and storage, and product control. It follows the recent announcement by both companies discussing Boeing’s possible reacquisition of Spirit AeroSystems.
