Airbus and global multi-energy company TotalEnergies have signed an agreement to address the challenges of decarbonising aviation through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Under the partnership, TotalEnergies – which has been supplying SAF for Airbus aircraft deliveries in Toulouse since 2016 – will provide enough SAF for more than half of Airbus’ needs in Europe. The two companies will also initiative a research and development programme ‘aimed at developing 100% sustainable fuels tailored to the design of current and future aircraft,’ alongside studying the impact of SAF on C02 and non-C02 emissions.
