WestJet reported that its fuel emissions reduced by 11% in 2023, in comparison to 2019. The airline said initiatives such as fleet modernisation and a responsible shift in network planning helped drive the lower emissions. “Sustainability has been a core value for WestJet for more than two decades,” said WestJet group executive vice president and chief people, corporate and sustainability officer Angela Avery. The reduction aligns with the companies growth and the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s goals for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
