Chief Operating Officer Mike Van de Ven has confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that Southwest Airlines will freeze the size of its fleet at 680 aircraft until 2015 to focus on boosting its return on capital. Ven states that the airline will be looking to expand its fleet after 2015 if “the economics and the business are right”.
