Fighter jets escorted a Ryanair aircraft after pilots reported a bomb threat while en route from Poland to Greece on January 22. While the scare proved to be a false alarm after Greek police searched the aircraft and luggage upon landing in Athens, the all-clear was only given after a pair of F-16s were scrambled to fly alongside the jet as it entered the Mediterranean nation’s airspace Hungary’s air force had earlier escorted the aircraft after pilots alerted authorities of a possible bomb onboard.
