Qantas Airways has added six seats to its Boeing 737 fleet, which service most of the airline’s short-haul routes within Australia. The aircraft currently have a total of 168 seats, including 12 first class seats and 156 economy. The six new economy seats have been added by rearranging galleys and restrooms. “Qantas will still have less seats on this aircraft than all of its competitors,” said CEO Alan Joyce. “We still have the most luxurious level of comfort on our 737s.” Joyce said that seat pitch in the new configuration would remain the same.
