The recent volcanic eruption at Mount Ruang, Indonesia, has caused Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia to suspend flights in the region; with delays ongoing despite the latter having reinstated some services. Malaysia Airlines cancelled several flights to and from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the states of Sabah and Sarawak, with a total of 37 flights listed online as being cancelled as a result of the eruption. Stressing safety as a priority, the airline added: “Rest assured, we’re actively working to arrange alternative flights for affected travellers as soon as conditions permit”.
