Speaking at Lufthansa’s annual general meeting, outgoing chairman and CEO Christoph Franz, revealed that several strike in Germany during 2014 has cost the airline group some €70 million. Lufthansa has been affected by a three-day pilot strike in April and several strikes by airport security staff and public service employees. Negotiations continue with pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit over better pay and working positions for pilots but further strikes could not be ruled out. Today Franz has formally left the group and he has been replaced by Carsten Spohr who was previously head of Lufthansa Passenger Airline.
