Latvian flag-carrier airBaltic has taken delivery of its 45th A220-300 jet, registered as YL-ABS, which is the airline’s sixth delivery of the type this year. Part of the 50 A220-300 narrowbody aircraft ordered by the carrier, airBaltic has operated all its flights exclusively with the type since May 2022; thus, according to the airline, ‘minimizing the complexity and benefiting from the additional efficiency provided by the aircraft’. During the recent Dubai airshow, airBaltic announced the firm purchase agreement for 30 more A220-300 airframes with options to buy another 20 more; bolstering the airline’s ambition of operating 100 aircraft by 2030.
