Qantas Airways and Japan Airlines are injecting A$114 million ($126 million) into Jetstar Japan via non-voting shares over two investment tranches, which will be equally shared by the two airlines. The first investment tranche of A$37 million will be made today, taking each airline’s economic interest to 46.7% from 45.7%. The intent is to help drive growth ahead of Jetstar Japan starting international flights next year. When the transaction is completed, the airlines’ economic interest will be 47.1% each, while Mitsubishi and Century’s interest will fall to 2.9% from 4.35%.
