Chinese airline share prices were boosted on rumours of a sector-wide consolidation, which would include unconfirmed plans for the merger of Air China and China Southern. Share in Air China and China Southern rose by the daily limit of 10%, with China Eastern Airlines shares up by 7.1%. Both airlines has stated that they have no knowledge of any merger plans.
