The Australian Transport Workers Union has called on Australia’s aviation regulator to ban Indonesia AirAsia from Australian airspace following the fatal crash of Flight QZ8501 on December 28. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has put Indonesia AirAsia under “enhanced surveillance following the accident”, it said yesterday: “As part of this enhanced surveillance, CASA conducted ramp inspections of IAA aircraft throughout January and found no safety concerns during these inspections. CASA said it was “monitoring the situation closely and will take relevant action as required”. The TWU said that Indonesia AirAsia should be banned until CASA could conduct a full audit
