Asiana Airlines has placed an order with Airbus for six A380s, value at around $2 billion at 2010 list prices. Airbus said that the South Korean carrier would make its engine decision “in the near future”. Deliveries are due to begin in 2014. Asiana plans to use the aircraft on premium routes to Europe and the US. Asiana is the 18th customer to order the A380, and the first since a Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine exploded on a Qantas A380 over Indonesia in November last year.
