Air Vanuatu has gone into liquidation, with EY Australia assigned as liquidators on May 9, amidst a backdrop of extensive maintenance issues. As a result, flights were cancelled with immediate effect and local media reported hundreds of passengers were left stranded. EY Australia said Morgan Kelly, Andrew Hanson and Justin Walsh have been appointed as joint and several liquidators of the company. Vanuatu Daily Post reported that the airline’s board was dissolved since EY Australia was appointed as administrator. The Guardian had reported that it understood the airline’s only 737 aircraft has been parked at Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport for months.
