Startup Uzbekistani airline Air Samarkand is to commence its scheduled flight programme on March 21 2024, with initial services to operate twice a week. Flights will depart on Mondays and Thursday from Samarkand International Airport to Istanbul International Airport aboard a A321neo, with a duration of around five hours. Additionally, Air Samarkand has announced the appointment of Zafar Butaev as its new CEO. He succeeds Anton Khodiayan, who will continue to work as an advisor to the airline while resuming his position as director general of the airport management company Air Marakanda.
